Five Reports Every Managing Partner Should Run Monthly

Skip the vanity dashboards. These five reports tell you what's actually happening in your practice.

If you only run five reports a month, make them these.

1. Active matters by partner

Catches imbalanced load before it becomes resentment.

2. Matters with no activity in the last 30 days

Surfaces files that have stalled — the client may have moved on or the bench may be the bottleneck.

3. Cause list density per partner

Partners doing 12+ hearings a week are heading for burnout. Ones doing fewer than 3 may be under-utilised.

4. Aging receivables over 60 days

Cash flow signal. Don't let this slip past 90 days.

5. Adjournment rate per matter

Matters that have been adjourned more than 5 times in a year deserve a partner-level review. Either the matter is unusually complex or the strategy needs to change.
